In your Ad Editor, you will have access to edit the Source Settings for your ad. After assigning a data source, you are able to add filters via selecting “Add Filter Preset”.
Make sure to name your preset before proceeding with filters. This preset can be applied to any ads that you create in the future.
Each individual product criteria is defined by a single filter group. Within each filter group, attributes are added and stacked to create unique filter combinations.
Example: You may want your ad to contain new Nissan Sentras. So, within your first filter group, you might add the attributes of “Condition contains New” and “Model contains Sentra”.
Since we’ve added both of these attributes to the Filter Group, both criteria must be met in order for a product to appear in the ad.
Your attributes will depend on your data source fields. If you would like to filter for a field that is currently missing from your data source, please contact our support team on the best way to add it.
Note the differences in operators depending on your filter option. The “is” operator allows you to filter out null or missing data. For all other instances, please use the “contains” operator by default. Some numerical and price fields will offer different operators. For instance, you can set Price is greater/less/equal/not equal to/than x.
After deciding on filters, you have the option to tell the system how you want it to prioritize sorting. Under each of the Filter Groups, there will be an option to Order Data.
The most popular sorting solutions are either Random or a variation of Price (either ascending or descending.
An ad does not have to be limited to a single Filter Group. New Filter Groups can be added to define new products, or existing Filter Groups can be edited. Adding additional filter groups will add additional products into the video ad while also setting a pattern in which these products appear.
Example: With this current filter selection, our ad would follow this sorting:
Lowest priced NEW vehicle
Lowest priced USED or CERTIFIED vehicle
Second lowest priced NEW vehicle
Second lowest priced USED or CERTIFIED vehicle
Third lowest priced NEW vehicle
Third lowest priced USED or CERTIFIED vehicle
Once you are satisfied with your filter choices, you can save as a draft or hit the “Save” button.
After submission, you will be able to preview your inventory selections and verify that your filters were set up properly. To do this, hit the Preview Source Data button.
Making filter changes to a VAST distributed ad will never change the tag. As long as the Ad exists in the system, the tag will never change. You will be able to edit the filter criteria as many times as you like and will not have to re-traffic the tag.
