Reporting
Hoot only has access to impression data for your respective ads. Since our team doesn’t handle campaign management, we are limited when it comes to reporting analytics.
For supplemental reporting data, please reach out to your ad delivery service.
Select the “Billing/Reports” option on the homepage.
In the “Billing Info” section, you are able to edit general contact information and assign a billing contact for your account.
In the “Billing Reports” section, you can view and download current and past invoices.
Reporting Considerations
A friendly reminder that there is almost always a difference between ad servers (Hoot) and ad delivery services (your DSP). Theoretically, due to how impressions are counted, Hoot reporting totals should always be “lower” than the ad delivery side.
We record impressions in UTC as all servers are set up utilizing this time stamp. This is consistent with all of our services. Small daily differences could be seen depending on how the ad delivery service system is applying the time stamp. This is usually insignificant, but also worth mentioning as it could cause some variance in reporting.
The second most important factor is “when” the service is recording the impression. For VAST Tag applications, Hoot records an impression post XML execution (which can also be referred to as “ad rendered” to the consumer). Some systems will “record” the impression on the “ad request”. The difference is that the impression is triggered on the XML response. This simply means that the ad server has responded to the request, but it does not confirm the ad was displayed to the user.
There also might be a correlation in the quartile reporting from the ad delivery side. This means that if the system is in fact reporting on the initial request, it might be visible in the quartile reporting. We would look at the first quartile performance compared to the daily total in both the Hoot system and the ad delivery service.
