Source Sheets

HootVid Source Sheets is a powerful, dynamic ,and versatile spreadsheet tool that is seamlessly integrated in the platform. Much like Google Sheets, our spreadsheet functionality empowers you to organize, analyze, and collaborate on data with ease- Making it the perfect solution for users who need precise control over their data and want a reliable image host.

Use Source Sheets to:

  • Create and manage data sheets manually for your dynamic video ads

  • Import Sheets into HootVid for manual edits or versioning

  • Utilize Hoots image hosting for dynamic content

  • Share HootVid sheets for collaboration, including those without HootVid access

Adding a Source Sheet

  1. Navigate to the Data Sources menu.

  2. On the right-hand side, you will see an option to “Create New”.

Data Builder

This sub-menu will guide you with building the new data source. You can contact support in this menu for additional guidance as well. Here, we will select our data source, attach data, and add filters.

  1. Select “Custom” for your data source option and then the “Next Step ” button.

  1. We can now proceed with creating the sheet. First, designate a name. If importing an existing sheet to use as a base, select that option. If not, build from scratch, starting with “Add Column”.

Importing an existing sheet will automatically import the data into the blank sheet to be edited

Keep in mind that importing a sheet into HootVid doesn’t establish a link to the existing Google/Excel sheet. Additionally, changes made in HootVid sheets will not automatically make changes to the original imported sheet.

  1. Each column is defined by a type. Select the type based on the type of field you will be adding, and designate a column name.

The “Number” column type should only be used if the inputs are ONLY numerical.

Example: Entering prices such as “$50,000” should actually be under the “Text” type, due to the special characters mixed in.

Unlike a static video, dynamic video ads require hosted images from the data source. These images will remain remotely hosted as long as the sheet remains within HootVid.

  1. Once the column headers have been defined, begin inputting the data by clicking the “Add Row” button. Populate the new cells, and hit “Next Step” when finished.

  1. Apply any needed Filter Presets to your data source. Hit “Save & Finish”.

  1. Now that your data source has been added, you can either directly move into Creating an Ad, or return to the Advertisers menu.
