HootVid Source Sheets

HootVid Sheets is a powerful spreadsheet feature, a dynamic and versatile tool that's seamlessly integrated within the platform. Much like Google Sheets, our spreadsheet functionality empowers you to organize, analyze, and collaborate on data with ease. It's the perfect solution for users who need precise control over their data and want a reliable image host.

UI changes have been made since this video’s creation to improve the workflow of source sheets. Source Sheet use cases are still the same.

Use Cases

  • Create and manage data sheets manually for dynamic video ads

  • Import Sheets into HootVid for manual edits or versioning

  • Utilize Hoots image hosting for dynamic content

  • Share HootVid sheets for collaboration, including those without HootVid access

Creating Sheets

1.

Navigate to the “Data Sources” section of the desired advertiser.

3.

Use the “Add Column” button to define the column headers for the sheet. Each column will need to have an input type assigned to define the type of data within.

Input types include:

  • Text

  • Number

  • Image File

4.

Once the column headers have been defined, users can begin inputting the data by clicking the “Add Row” button. Once finished, click save.

Image Hosting

Integrated directly within HootVid sheets lives a powerful image hosting solution. This feature allows users to insert standard image files into a sheet and HootVid will remotely host that image for dynamic video use.

Unlike a static video, dynamic video ads require hosted images from the data source.

1.

Within a HootVid Sheet, create a column with the “image” input type defined. Once a row is created, the choose file option will appear for that row. Users can select an image using the “choose file” button and the image will automatically be remotely hosted on the Hoot server.

2.

These images will remain remotely hosted as long as the sheet remains within HootVid.

Importing Sheets

1.

Users have the ability to easily import data from existing Google/Excel sheets. When creating a fresh sheet, select “Import Sheet” and choose your spreadsheet file.

2.

Selecting a file will automatically import the data into the blank sheet. Once imported, users can add additional columns and rows to the existing data. Data can also be manually adjusted within the sheet.

Keep in mind that importing a sheet into HootVid doesn’t establish a link to the existing Google/Excel sheet. Changes made in HootVid sheets will not automatically make changes to the original imported sheet.

Sharing Sheets

Once a Sheet is created, users can collaboratively work on the sheet within the Hootvid platform. Any user with access will see all sheets within their sheets tab. For collaborators without HootVid access, provide the “Share URL” with them to allow access to the specific sheet. This link will provide direct access to the specific sheet only, no other features or access will be provided via this link.

Sheet Settings

Once a Sheet is created, users can adjust the “Sheet Settings” via the cog wheel icon.

Sheet Settings allows users to:

  • Change Sheet Name

  • Access the Feed URL

  • Refetch Feed Data

  • Advanced Settings

    • Randomize data

    • xPATH element adjustments

    • Apply feed URL credentials if needed

  • View a list of video ads that are currently utilizing the source

    • Clicking link will take the user directly to editing that ad
